Hussain Ali Yateem: The Three Palms, A Biography of Transformations
Book Two: The Biography and the Document
A book documenting the life of Hussain Ali Yateem by following his part in the economic, social and urban transformations Bahrain has lived through since the 1930s. From around three palm trees in the heart of Manama, it traces the passage from an economy of pearls and trade to the age of oil, and the projects and changes that came with it in aviation, cinema, air-conditioning, industry, banking, commerce and ways of living. Drawing on a vast archive of documents, letters, photographs and diaries, it tells the life of a man whose story runs through the history of modern Bahrain.
